Understanding depth of field when taking photos using SLR digital cameras, can make a huge difference to the quality of your photographs. Depth of field can be used to distinguish a subject of interest; a face for instance. With a shallow or fine depth of field, the face will be in focus, while the back ground out of focus (a blur). The viewers total focus would be directed at the face without any other distractions.
